The material is fed from two sections of a hopper (5) on to respective rotary ejectors under metering units (6) each incorporating two pivoted plates (13, 14) with an operating lever (17) positioned by a hydraulic cylinder (19) working against a spring (20). The lower plate (13) is adjusted by the motor (29) to vary the opening (12) for release of fertiliser. The two motors (29) are controlled jointly (32) in response to signals from detectors (35) of the positions of the upper plates (14), open or closed. ADVANTAGE - Distribution of fertiliser over width of plot is precisely adaptable to different requirements.
