PURPOSE:To produce a gas collecting electrode, through which a large amt. of electrolyte and gas are passed when used in electrolysis, fuel cell, electroplating, etc., even when the inter-electrode distance is reduced, capable of accelerating reaction, excellent in conductivity and collecting functions and with the energy efficiency improved. CONSTITUTION:This gas collecting electrode is provided with a reaction layer in which a liq.-permeable fine hydrophilic part and a gas-passable fine water- repellent part are intermixed in the three-dimensional reticular-structure skeleton of a conductive coarse-pore body and/or a gas diffusion layer in which a gas- passable fine water-repellent part is dispersed. A dispersion of the reaction layer material and/or a dispersion of the gas diffusion layer material are deposited on the skeleton of the coarse-pore body and dried, then a surfactant is extracted by an org. solvent, and the body is heated, sintered and quenched to produce the objective gas diffusion electrode. |
