PURPOSE:To eliminate the lowering of recording grade by preventing the generation of the membrane layer of thicknened ink in the peripheral edge part of an emitting orifice even when recording is performed over a long period of time and certainly removing the foreign matter bonded to the peripheral edge part of the emitting orifice. CONSTITUTION:When a cleaning member 10 composed of a rubbery elastomer is slid with the emitting orifice forming surface 51 of a recording head 1 to clean the emitting orifice forming surface 51, the emitting orifice forming surface 51 is automatically cleaned at each time when a definite number of papers are recorded or a definite number of emitting signals are outputted in such a state that the contact pressure of the cleaning member is made low and, when it is considered that foreign matter is accidentally bonded, said contact pressure is enhanced to perform cleaning. |
