APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ADSORBING AND REMOVING NOX

PURPOSE:To provide a practical NOx adsorbing and removing apparatus by preventing the lowering of the NOx adsorbing and removing capacity of an NOx adsorbent to prolong the life of the NOx adsorbent. CONSTITUTION:In an apparatus wherein NOx-containing gas is passed through an NOx adsorbing device 2 packed with an NOx adsorbent 1 to adsorb a specific amt. of NOx by the adsorbent 1, an SO2 adsorbing device 4 packed with an SO2 adsorbent 3 capable of reversibly adsorbing SO2 is arranged on the upstream side in the flow direction of the NOx-containing gas of the NOx adsorbing device 2. The NOx-containing gas is passed through the SO2 adsorbing device 4 to adsorb SO2 by the adsorbent 3 and subsequently passed through the NOx adsorbing device 2 to adsorb NOx by the adsorbent 1. Thereafter, regenerated gas is allowed to pass in the direction reverse to the flowing direction of the NOx-containing gas to be passed through the NOx adsorbing device 2 and the SOx adsorbing device 4 in this order to simultaneously regenerate the NOx adsorbent l and the SO2 adsorbent 3.
