An array of diodes (12), two resistors (14) and a three-pole overvoltage diverter (16) are arranged on a circuit board (10) in a two-part housing (40). Plug-type zones (17) of the board are plugged into a row of contacts on a two-row connector moulding (42) with an earthing rail (44) into which the spring section (46) of an earth contact (19) is hooked. Between the earth contact and overvoltage diverter, two insulating sections (62, 64) of the thermoplastic protective element (18) are interposed. The element itself has two slightly concave sections and is spring-biased (36) to hold these in contact with the diverter.
