PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with a closing plate and improve the operability of a fuel reforming apparatus by using a pressurizing apparatus having a connection freedom of the pressurizing part to enable the adjustment of the lateral dimension in radial direction of a reforming tube of the pressurizing part corresponding to the gap between adjacent tubes by partitioning the inner circumference and the outer circumference of a catalyst layer. SOLUTION: This fuel reforming apparatus performs the reforming of a raw hydrocarbon-based fuel with steam in a catalyst layer heated with a thermal medium. The pressurizing apparatus 2 of the reforming apparatus is a vessel 21 constructed by a pair of side plates 22, 23 having the same U-shaped cross-section and a pair of bottom plates 24, 25 and provided with small-diameter through-holes to impart air permeability to the plates. The vessel 21 is composed of two sets of members consisting of the side plate 22 and the bottom plate 24 as a set and the side plate 23 and the bottom plate 25 as the other set. These two sets of members are fit with each other in a freely slidable manner in the radial direction of the reforming tube directing the U-shaped openings of the side plates 22, 23 opposite to each other to form an inner space 26.
