<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telescopic shaft having less rattling and smaller moving resistance. <P>SOLUTION: An intermediate shaft 5 as the telescopic shaft comprises a cylindrical outer shaft 14, an inner shaft 15 slidably fitted to the outer shaft 14 via a cylindrical roller 20, a slit 22 extending from one end 14a of the outer shaft 14 to an axial direction S1 of the outer shaft 14, and fastening shafts 23A, 23B for fastening the outer shaft 14 to narrow a gap 22a of the slit 22. By utilizing the rolling of the cylindrical roller 20, moving resistance between the outer shaft 14 and the inner shaft 15 is reduced. By using the fastening shafts 23A, 23B to narrow the gap 22a of the slit 22 and shrink the diameter of the outer shaft 14, the radial looseness of the cylindrical roller 20 between the outer shaft 14 and the inner shaft 15 is suppressed, resulting in less rattling.
