Airbag module for motor vehicles

The airbag module has a housing (12) for the airbag (14). The housing is fastened to the motor vehicle so that it can move automatically against the ejection direction of the airbag. A cover (18,20) connected to the housing opens due to the pressure applied by the inflating airbag, after the housing has moved. The housing may be moved during activation of the gas generator by a linear drive, the working chamber of which is in flow connection with the gas generator (16).
