An air-conditioning unit comprises a manually operated control panel for choosing between a plurality of operating methods, including corresponding areas between a room to receive the air emerging from the air- conditioning unit. In accordance with the operating method chosen, the orientation of flaps that direct the air and the speed of the fan blowing the air out are adapted automatically. The flaps can be set in fixed positions or can be swivelled to and fro.
