PURPOSE: A method for controlling detection of humidity of a microwave oven is provided to prevent danger such as fire due to overheat by treating error if desired humidity change is not detected until limit detection time is over. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling detection of humidity of a microwave oven includes the steps of starting a count of detection time when an automatic cooking is started, comparing the detection time and a preset limit detection time, detecting humidity and calculating a change amount of the humidity if the current detection time is within the limit detection time, comparing whether or not the detected change amount of the humidity is more than a preset standard value and detecting heating point, repeating the above steps besides the counting step if the change amount of the humidity is less than the standard value, and calculating additional time based on the detection time by this time and preset additional coefficient if the change amount of the humidity is not less than the standard value.
