Mounting device for acoustically isolating walls and ceilings

A mounting means for mounting a ceiling or wall member to a support structure in such a way as to attenuate noise transmission between the support structure and the ceiling or wall. The mounting means includes a clip (1) or bracket having a face with at least one aperture (2) adapted to accommodate therein a resilient member to receive therethrough a fastening means to fasten the clip or bracket to a surface of the support structure. The plane of the surface being at substantially 90o to the plane of the ceiling or wall and whereby the resilient member promotes acoustic isolation between the support structure and the ceiling or wall member. The mounting means further includes a portion of the clip or bracket adapted to connect to a furring channel (5) or ceiling batten (6).
