PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact optical scanner with a wide scanning width at a low cost, which solves the problem of a deviation in the joint of a scanning line owing to the change of a light path length, even when the light path length is changed by a scanning position. SOLUTION: The light scanner comprises light source units 1-1 and 1-2 for emitting a light beam, a deflector 4 which is provided with multiple deflection surfaces and rotated, light guide element groups 2-1, 2-2, 3-1 and 3-2 for shaping the beam shape of the light beams emitted from the light source units and guiding them to the deflector 4 and image forming element groups 5-1 to 9-1 and 5-2 to 9-2 for guiding the light beams which are deflected by the deflector 4 onto a surface to be scanned 10 and forming an image. The light scanner is characterized in that relation among an incident angleαconcerning the scanning direction of the surface to be scanned, a pixel interval limit change distance R in a scanning direction on the surface to be scanned and the changeΔL of the light path length satisfyΔLcosα>R/2 in the joint part of the light beams for scanning in the optical systems adjacent on the surface to be scanned or that a telecentric fθlens is used for the fθlenses of the multiplex optical systems for scanning, which are adjacent on the surface to be scanned.
