The present invention relates to a perfume composition having an o-anisic ester represented by the general formula (1):
wherein R 1 is a linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl group having 5 to 10 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl group having 5 to 10 carbon atoms or an arylalkyl group having 7 to 10 carbon atoms. The present invention also relates to cis-.3-hexenyl o-anisate. The perfume composition of the present invention has a floral balsamic scent.
