An intramedullary nail (12,112,12A,12B,212,312,412) for use in a medullary canal (6) of a long bone (4) includes a body defining a longitudinal axis (14,114,214,314,414) and an external periphery of the body for fitting in the medullary canal of the long bone. The body has a first internal wall (18) of the body defining a first opening (20,26,42,62,64,66,68,64B,66B,68B,76B) through the body. The first opening defines a first opening centerline. The body has a second internal wall (24) of the body defining a second opening (20,26,42,62,64,68,64B,66B,68B,76B) through the body. The second opening defines a second opening centerline. The first opening centerline and the second opening centerline are oblique with respect to each other. At least one of the first opening centerline and the second opening centerline are transverse to the longitudinal axis of said body.
