PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a square battery capable of effectively suppressing battery expansion. SOLUTION: The battery is provided with a cathode, an anode and electrolyte solution stored in a square outer package can. A plurality of processing grooves are formed in a center area of a surface with the maximum area of the outer package can, and the plurality of processing grooves have a minimum distance between the outermost processing grooves of 20 or more when a total width of the largest surface of the outer package can is 100, with a minimum distance between adjacent processing grooves of 8mm or less.
