摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate the reliability of map data to be used in a navigation device or the like. SOLUTION: An absolute position of a vehicle is detected by an absolute position detecting means, and the position of the vehicle with a road map expressed by the map data stored in a map data storage means as a reference on the basis of the detected absolute position of the vehicle. The detected absolute position of the vehicle according to running of the vehicle is stored to be made correspond to the position of the vehicle with the road map as a reference as running path information of the vehicle. The stored running path information is compared with the position of the vehicle with the road map as a reference, then the reliability of the map data being the error of the map data when the absolute position of the vehicle is defined as a reference is set as a map reliability.
