PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it is troublesome to purchase specific consumables for a user of a recorder because many consumables are arranged at a store. SOLUTION: The printer 1 as a storage is equipped with a display 26, an ink residual quantity detecting part 28, a pattern memory region 43 which stores patterns described to packages of ink cartridges, and a specific information memory region 46 which stores model numbers of the ink cartridges. When an ink residual quantity in the ink cartridge becomes not larger than a first threshold value, the pattern is specified by referring to contents of the pattern memory region 43, and also the model number of the ink cartridge is specified by referring to the specific information memory region 46.
