PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more effectively use after-injection.SOLUTION: In an internal combustion engine that includes a fuel injection valve for injecting fuel into a cylinder of the internal combustion engine, in the case where after-injection is performed after main injection of fuel from the fuel injection valve, if speed of the internal combustion engine is first predetermined speed or higher, penetrating force of fuel during the after-injection is made larger than that during the main injection, and if the speed of the internal combustion engine is lower than second predetermined speed that is equal to or lower than the first predetermined speed, the penetrating force of the fuel during the after-injection is made smaller than that during the main injection.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
