PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery in cycle characteristic.SOLUTION: A positive electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, which is an example of the embodiment of the present invention, comprises a lithium composite oxide as a primary component; in the lithium composite oxide, the content of Ni is more than 30 mol% to the total mole number of metal elements except Li. The lithium composite oxide has secondary particles, which are composed of aggregates of primary particles having an average particle diameter of 3-20 μm; and the secondary particles have a crushing strength of no smaller than 100 MPa under 200 MPa. The lithium composite oxide includes at least one element selected from Ba, Ca and Sr.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
