PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the life of a radiation detection element while enhancing its yield during manufacturing, the radiation detection element including a substrate formed of a compound semiconductor containing cadmium telluride or zinc cadmium telluride and a metal electrode formed on the substrate surface.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a method of manufacturing a radiation detection element 2 in which a substrate 6 formed of a compound semiconductor crystal containing cadmium telluride or zinc cadmium telluride is immersed in a plating solution containing platinum or gold to form metal electrodes 7, 8 of simple substance of platinum or gold or of an alloy containing gold or platinum at prescribed locations on the substrate 6 surface. In this manufacturing method, the plating solution containing hydrochloric acid is used.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
