1. A tape cassette for use with a label printer having a plurality of tape type detecting switches having ends, the ends configured to be in a first position of the label printer and to be moved beyond the first position, the tape cassette comprising:
a housing having a front wall, a top surface, a bottom surface, and a tape feed exit located on the front wall, the top surface being parallel to the bottom surface, the front wall being perpendicular to a first direction, and the front wall being perpendicular to the top surface and the bottom surface; a tape included at least partially in the housing and configured to be fed along a tape feed path extending to the tape feed exit in a tape feed direction; a roller configured to rotate around an axis, the axis being perpendicular to the top surface and the bottom surface, and the axis being perpendicular to the tape feed direction; tape type indicator portions on the front wall, wherein a combination of the tape type indicator portions forms a pattern corresponding to a type of the tape, wherein the tape type indicator portions are positioned to oppose corresponding ones of the plurality of tape type detecting switches of the label printer when the tape cassette is in the label printer, wherein a first subset of the tape type indicator portions has a first level in the first direction with respect to the front wall, wherein a second subset of the tape type indicator portions has a second level in the first direction with respect to the front wall, and wherein the first level is different from the second level; a rear indentation indented from a rear portion of the bottom surface toward the top surface up to a ceiling surface, a position of a portion of the rear indentation in the tape feed direction being on a virtual centerline of the tape cassette in the tape feed direction, the virtual centerline being orthogonal to the bottom surface; and a bottom aperture formed on the ceiling surface, wherein the first subset of the tape type indicator portions are configured to permit a first subset of the plurality of tape type detecting switches to move beyond the first position of the label printer in the first direction according to the first level, and the second subset of the tape type indicator portions are configured to not permit a second subset of the plurality of tape type detecting switches to move beyond the first position of the label printer in the first direction according to the second level when the first subset of the tape type indicator portions permit the first subset of the plurality of tape type detecting switches to move beyond the first position, wherein a first tape type indicator portion of the second subset is located upstream, in the tape feed direction, from a second tape type indicator portion of the second subset, wherein the first and second tape type indicator portions are located in a common trench in the front wall, and wherein a position of a portion of the common trench in the tape feed direction is on the virtual centerline. |
