The prepn. of beta-fluoroalcohols of formula (I) comprises reacting epoxides of formula (II) with sodium or potassium hydrogen fluoride under pressure in the presence of diluents. R1 and R2 = opt. branched alkyl; R3 and R4 = H or opt. branched alkyl.
