PURPOSE:To provide a tilt locking device capable of performing locking operation in association with tilting-up operation at a steering seat. CONSTITUTION:A tilt locking device for an outboard engine is provided with a locking plate 10 with one end thereof pivotally fixed to a clamp bracket and with the tip thereof protruding into the moving passage of a swivel bracket so as to be engaged with the lower face of the swivel bracket, and a spring member 13 for supporting the self-weight of the swivel bracket engaged with the tip of the locking plate 10 is interposed between the locking plate 10 and the clamp bracket 3. At the descending time of the swivel bracket by a power trimming and tilting device, the spring member 13 is compressed by the descending force, and the locking plate 10 is tilted to release the engagement between the swivel bracket and the locking plate 10. At the ascending time of the swivel bracket, the locking plate 10 is tilted upward by the upward movement of the swivel bracket so as to enable the upward movement of the swivel bracket. |
