PURPOSE: To isolate the surfaces of a knife blade from a surgeon and to protect the knife blade from damage during a re-sterilization autoclaving process. CONSTITUTION: A microscopic surgical knife assembly 20 has a slender knife gripping portion 22, a knife blade 26 mounted at one end of the knife gripping portion 22, and a shield portion 24 freely removably mounted at the one end of the knife gripping portion 22, the shield portion 24 extending from the knife gripping portion 22 in such a way as to surround the knife blade 26. |
