PURPOSE: To reduce motion artifacts such as loss and blur of detailed part of an image, to improve noise-proofing property and to emphasis exhibition of motion with low contrast. CONSTITUTION: A temporally interpolated video signal (YT), a spatially interpolated video signal (YS) and a motion instruction signal (MOT) are supplied by a video source. A difference signal (DIFF) obtained from the temporally and spatially interpolated signals is symmetrically restricted as a function of motion signal amplitude, and after that is coupled with the temporally interpolated signal to form a motion adaptive video output signal (Yest).
