发明名称 NONEXHAUSTIVE MOVEMENT ESTIMATION METHOD
摘要 PURPOSE: To allow an image processing unit to compress and restore an image signal at a high efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A method for executing motion prediction in a system having a test image 204 and pluralities of candidate images 206 is provided. The candidate images 206 is selected and a difference 220 between the test image 204 and the candidate image 206 is decided. A motion of the image is predicted through the difference and the decision is made for a period of a motion prediction process. The selection of the candidate image 206, decision of the difference 220, and motion prediction are repeated for a decided period. The period may be decided by decision of time interval or decision of the machine cycle. This method is suitably decrease repetitive errors between the test image 204 and the candidate image 206 when the operations above are repeated. When the decreasing error state is stopped and the error is again increasing, it is discriminated that a best adaptation is attained. As long as no timeout occurs in the beginning, the optimum adaptation is decided by the repetitive operations.
