PURPOSE: To provide an ink jet recording apparatus equipped with an ink tank achieving high printing quality and not causing the leakage of ink at the time of high elevation or even when an impact or vibration is applied. CONSTITUTION: Negative pressure lower than that at a time other than the recording time of an image is produced at the part of a nozzle by pressing an ink tank at the recording time of an image by a lever 8. Therefore, by providing the lever 8 pressing the ink tank only at the recording time of an image, contrary capacities, that is, the achievement of high printing quality and the prevention of the leak of ink 10 can be satisfied at the same time.
