Device intended to be fitted to motor vehicles which run on petrol with a view to protecting them against theft. This device according to the invention makes it possible, when it is in used, to cut the fuel supply and block the mechanical locking for opening the engine bonnet. It consists of a set of elements accessible at the dashboard and a certain number of others placed under the engine bonnet and therefore in accessible as long as the said bonnet is closed. The device is designed to operate in two different modes. The first makes it possible to block the locking (15) of the bonnet (16) and to close the fuel inlet solenoid valve (6) immediately after having actuated the encoded infrared-wave remote control unit (1) (small portable box). The second mode allows someone so desiring to delay the stopping of the engine of his vehicle by approximately one and half minutes; it is triggered by action on the electric button (13) located on the dashboard. In this case, conversely, the blocking of the locking of the bonnet occurs immediately.
