PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a magnetic recording medium possible to have excellent lubricity and durability sufficient for practical use, by forming a uniform monomolecular film layer orienting a fluoroalkyl side chain on a protective film by using a poly(meth)acrylamide deriv. having the fluoroalkyl chain at the side chain. SOLUTION: A polymer compd. contg. a chemical structure expressed by the formula as a repeating unit is deposited as a lubricating film layer on the magnetic recording medium. The method for the deposition is executed by dissolving this polymer compd. in an org. solvent, such as hydrocarbon fluoride, and orienting the fluoroalkyl side chain of the polymer compd. by using an Langmur-Brogett(LB) method. The formation of the monomolecular layer having a uniform film thickness is made possible by the orientation of the fluoroalkyl side chain. Further, the oriented surface of the fluoroalkyl side chain is formed as a contact surface with the magnetic head, by which the lubricating characteristics are improved. As a result, the sufficiently durability to long-term use is obtd. |
