PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce impact given to rice grains by the fall in a tank for polishing rice by decreasing the distance of the fall. SOLUTION: An inner cylinder 2 is installed in a rice-polishing tank 1, to make plural vertically-partitioned spaces with a common outlet. For example, in an initial stage of rice-polishing, rice grains are stored in the space of the inner cylinder and in the space between the inner cylinder and the rice-polishing tank, and with the progress of rice-polishing, the volume of rice grains becomes smaller, and accordingly, the distance of the fall becomes longer and the given impact becomes stronger. In such a stage, for example, that the ratio of polishing rice comes to 50%, if the rice grains are charged only into the space of the inner cylinder, the distance of the fall is decreased. As a results, in the case of high-grade rice-polishing, the distance of the fall can be decreased, resulting in the reducing of the given impact, which is the cause for generation of cracked rice and broken rice.
