PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase sweetness of a baked sweet potato by slowly heating the baked sweet potato for a long time at a low temperature by providing the device with a control means for baking a sweet potato put in an oven chamber at a baking temperature after being heated for prescribed time in an enzyme activating temperature range. SOLUTION: When baking a sweet potato, first of all, a 'baked sweet potato' menu is selected by a menu key 8 of an operation panel 4, and cooking time is set by a timer key 9. When a start key 10 is inputted, a temperature sensor 6 detects a temperature in an moven chamber to detect whether or not the temperature is not more than an enzyme activating temperature. When the temperature is lower than the enzyme activating temperature, a data table performed whether this detected temperature is higher or lower than, for example, 10 deg.C is selected. After continuously carrying an electric current to a heater 5 for prescribed time, the inside of the oven chamber is heated for prescribed time at the enzyme activating temperature to promote saccharifiucation of the sweet potato. Thus, an enzyme contained in the sweet potato decomposes maltose to sweeten further the sweet potato.
