JOINING STRUCTURE FOR PERIPHERAL EDGE OF OPENING FOR VEHICLE SUN ROOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a joining structure using hemming over the whole circumference of the peripheral edge of an opening in a sun roof by suppressing the influence of the distortion generated by hemming processing upon the design. SOLUTION: This joining structure includes a roof panel 1 equipped with an opening 2 for a sun roof in approx. a square shape and a reinforcement 3 installed along the opening peripheral edge on the side with the intra-cabin surface of the roof panel 1 and is configured so that the end of roof panel 1 at the opening peripheral edge is folded back so that the internal peripheral edge of the reinforcement 3 is clamped. A step 1b lower on the intra-cabin side than the panel uppersurface 1a over the whole circumference is provided between the folded-back part 1c and the panel uppersurface 1a at the opening peripheral edge of the roof panel 1. The folded-back 1c of the roof panel 1 for clamping the internal peripheral edge of the reinforcement 3 is provided only in the straight portion excluding the corner part of the opening peripheral edge.
