PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the amount of intrusion of a car door into the cabin sufficiently without increasing the weight and cost by positioning the lower position of an impact bar in the door closed condition so as to oppose the side end of a cross-member installed through a side sill in the direction across the car width of the body floor, thereby transmitting at side collision the impact load to the cross-member through an impact bar bottom part and a side sill, and allowing the cross-member to receive the impact load. SOLUTION: This body structure of a car is provided with an impact bar 3 inside the door 1 for preventing intrusion into the cabin at the time of a side collision. The lower position of the impact bar 3 in a door closed state is set opposing the side end part of a cross-member 19 installed through a side sill 14 in the direction across the car width of the body floor 15.
