PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery adapted for high output, without bringing about minute short circuitings, and to provide a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery that uses the same.

SOLUTION: The negative electrode for the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery has an active material, capable of storing and releasing lithium and is provided with a fiber-like or needle-like filler having insulation performance. With this structure, minute short circuitings are prevented, while the passage of electrolytic liquid can be secured and ionic conductivity is improved and high power characteristics become satisfactory.
