<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having high cycle characteristics, high heat stability and a potential of a positive active material of 4.4-4.6 V vs. Li by using a hexagonal system lithium-containing transition metal composite oxide produced by adding zirconium, magnesium and aluminum as different kinds of elements to lithium cobaltate as a positive active material, and to provide the charging method of the nonaqueous secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: The positive active material of the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is manufactured by adding zirconium, magnesium and aluminum as the different kinds of elements in the synthesis of the lithium cobaltate, and comprised of the hexagonal system lithium-containing transition metal composite oxide in which the content of zirconium is 0.01-1 mol%, the content of magnesium is 0.01-3 mol%, the content of aluminum is 0.01-3 mol%, and the molar ratio of Li/Co is 1.00-1.05. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
