PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately determine whether or not knocking occurs. SOLUTION: An engine ECU executes a program including a step (S200) of calculating a sum of the number (1) of intensities of detected waveforms larger than a threshold value at a crank angle in which the threshold value obtained by adding a reference value to a value obtained by duplicating a difference between the intensity of a knock waveform model and a reference value becomes larger than a preset value and the number (2) of intensities of detected waveforms larger than the preset value at a crank angle in which the threshold value becomes the preset value or lower; a step (S204) of correcting vibration waveforms when the sum of the number (1) and the number (2) is larger than zero and is a preset number or lower (Yes in S202); a step (S206) of calculating a correlation coefficient K based on the corrected vibration waveforms; and steps (S116, S120) of determining whether or not knocking occurs based on the calculated correlation coefficient K.
