PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent decline of flaw detection accuracy, even if an abnormal element is generated in a plurality of ultrasonic generation elements constituting a phased-array probe. SOLUTION: The phased array probe 1 is formed by arraying the plurality of ultrasonic generation elements 2 for transmitting an ultrasonic signal to an inspection object M and receiving its reflected signal. An element characteristic value calculation means 4 operates a prescribed element characteristics value of each ultrasonic generation element, by inputting reflection signals from the plurality of ultrasonic generating elements 2, and an abnormal element detection means 5 detects abnormality of each ultrasonic generating element, based on the element characteristics value calculated by the element characteristics value calcualtion means 4, and a data processing part 7 performs data processing on ultrasonic flaw detection, based on only data relative to a normal ultrasonic generating element other than the ultrasonic generating element whose abnormality is detected by the abnormal element detecting means 5. In addition, a probe characteristics value calculating means 6 can be also provided, for operating a prescribed probe characteristics value, based on only the normal ultrasonic generating element, other than the ultrasonic generation element whose abnormality is detected by the abnormal element detection means 5.
