PURPOSE: To provide an image reading device that reduces an influence of turn-on or -off of a light source on read data to prevent deterioration in a read image due to the excessive or insufficient intensity of light even when a large amount of effective pixel data is output, and an image forming apparatus.CONSTITUTION: An image reading device comprises: reading means that can read a document image by irradiating a document position with light from a light source and receiving light reflected on the document position; output means that outputs image information on the document image; acquisition means that acquires an output value output from the output means when the light source is turned on or off; and setting means that sets a timing of a timing of turning on or off the light source relative to a timing to output the image information from the output means to a timing with a low noise level on the basis of the output value acquired by the acquisition means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8 |
