1. A peripheral catheter, comprising:
a catheter body having a central axis, an outer surface of the catheter body being coaxial with and radially spaced from the central axis at a first distance, the catheter body also including a single centrally located lumen coaxial to the central axis, the single centrally located lumen having an annular inner surface that is coaxial with and radially spaced from the central axis at a second distance, the single centrally located lumen extending between a proximal end and a distal end of the catheter body and comprising a distal lumen opening, the single centrally located lumen providing a fluid path through which power injections of fluid are transmitted from the single centrally located lumen and into a vasculature of a patient; a recess formed in the outer surface of the catheter body, the recess comprising opposing sidewalls that radially extend inwardly from the outer surface to a recess surface that extends between the opposing sidewalls, the recess surface being located at a third distance from the central axis, wherein the third distance is between the first distance and the second distance; and a hole formed through the recess surface and into the single centrally located lumen such that power injected fluids exit the single centrally located lumen via the distal lumen opening and the hole positioned in the recess, the hole comprising a sidewall having an outer edge, the outer edge located at the third distance and an inner edge located at the second distance, the hole also being positioned completely within the recess such that there is a portion of the recess surface between the sidewall of the hole and each sidewall of the recess. |
