IC engine valve group control with common cam - which has non-effective face offset w.r.t. effective region of cam face

The valves (1,2) of the group have a common control cam (4), which has an axially offset non-effective region (4"') w.r.t. the effective region (4') of the cam face (7). The peripheral face of the non-effective region corresponds to the closed state of at least one valve. Between the two regions is a transition region (4"). For switching the i.c. engine operational modes, the control cam is movable between two positions, i.e. the first one in which all the group valves coact with the effective region, and a second one in which some group valves coact with the non-effective region.
