PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treating method capable of uniformly improving crimp property, imparting high and especially uniform initial modulus and remarkably reducing an oligomer component. SOLUTION: A liquid finishing agent in an amount of 50-200wt.% based on a saturated amount of tow is sprayed to the tow which is heat-set at 140 deg.C to 190 deg.C in order to give quenching effect and the tow is passed through a pair of squeeze rolls and kneaded by loading of prescribed nip pressure and the fiber finishing agent in an amount of 0.7-7wt.% based on tow weight is removed by squeezing and tow humidified by squeezing is heated by arranged many rolls having <=125 deg.C roll temperature so that moisture content of the tow is 0.5-5 pts.wt. and the temperature is 40-100 deg.C and tow having the moisture content and the temperature is crimped with a crimping apparatus.
