The invention relates to a method for determining data for treating a surface whereby the positions of a range of points on said surface are first detected and fed into a computer. The spaces between said points and a control surface which has also been fed into the computer are then calculated by the computer and the position and spacing of the range of points are presented as a data record for treating said surface. It is an advantage if the treatment process is simulated on the computer in advance. This makes it possible to select the optimal treatment process and also to eliminate regional unevenness on the cornea.
