PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a kitchen detergent which can prevent a sink from being soiled by incorporating saponin and a surfactant each in a specified amt. into the same. SOLUTION: This detergent contains 0.05-5 wt.% saponin (e.g. quilajasaponin) and 5-95 wt.% anionic surfactant, and its conc. soln. is diluted with water in a dilution ratio of 10-100 before being used. Saponin contained reduces the irritation to a hand caused by a surfactant and accelerates the biodegradation of a surfactant in waste water. An extract oil obtd. by compressing Quilaja (quilajasaponin) and an extract oil obtd. by compressing yakkasidegella. (sursaponin) are used as saponin. At least one surfactant selected from among anionic, nonionic, and amphoteric surfactants is used; the surfactant used is selected from among a linear alkylbenzene sulfonate having an 8-20C alkyl group, a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether sulfonate having an 8-14C alkyl group, an 8-14Cα-olefin sulfonate, etc.
