A crankshaft or camshaft induction hardening process, comprising operating adjacent inductors (14-16) at different frequencies (F1, F2), is new. A crankshaft or camshaft induction hardening process comprises operating each inductor (14-16) associated with one of the hardening faces (10-12) at a frequency (F1, F2) different from that of the inductor (10-12) associated with the adjacent hardening face (10-12) during simultaneously heating of the hardening faces (10-12). Independent claims are also included for the following: (i) equipment for induction hardening of crankshafts or camshafts; and (ii) use of the above equipment for carrying out the above process.
