The invention relates to a method for incinerating sour water stripper gas whereby incineration occurs in a combustion chamber provided with at least one burner and an oxygen-containing gas feed. At least one of the gas flows and/or partial gas flows and/or gas flows of gas mixtures of two or more gases are pre-warmed prior to combustion. The invention also relates to a device for carrying out said method containing at least one burner and/or a burner muffle, whereby means for heating the gas are provided for at least one of the gas supply lines.
