PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine reduced in the rate at which a cutting blade drops. SOLUTION: A first lid is fitted with both a second lid for setting bobbins and a cover lid 54 for covering the upper portion of a cutting blade 62. Upon removal of the first lid from the sewing machine, the second lid is also removed, opening the upper portion of a bed part to expose a horizontally rotating shuttle. A blade-mounting recess part 54e taking the form of a parallelogram which is approximately the same as the shape of a side of the cutting blade 62 and a blade anti-drop protrusion 54f matching the cutting blade 62 in shape are formed integrally with the lower surface of the cover lid 54 using a resin.
