PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new self lock single chamber cylinder. SOLUTION: A single chamber 1, 2 is formed from a male/female type half cylinder 1, 2, one of these half cylinders is inserted to the other so as to be mutually slid in an axial line direction, and two pairs of diametric directional rods 8, 10; 13, 16 with an angle mutually deviated are provided. These diametric directional rods are made to act on the half cylinder 1, 2 so as to hold it in predetermined axial line directional center arrangement under action of a pressure of fluid supplied into the single chamber 1, 2. The diametric directional rod pairs 8, 10; 13, 16 comprise each two rods 8, 10; 13, 16 connected to each other by an axially connecting rod 9, 14, to act on a back opposed surface of the half cylinder 1, 2.
