The invention relates to a method of removal of humus matter from natural water to drinking water quality standards in which inorganic polymers of Al and activated SiO2 in a controlled pH range are used in a coagulation step. With this method maximum effects of reduction of humus water with minimum consumption of the chemicals and extremely low content of residual Al in drinking water is obtained.
