VIBRATION DAMPING DEVICE AND VERTICALLY INSTALLED MEMBER WITH EXCELLENT DAMPING PROPERTY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration damping device having a high damping performance even for vibrations with frequencies varying from high frequencies to low frequencies and used for vertically installed member such as illumination poles, sign poles, and signal poles vertically installed on roads and bridges and the vertically installed member with excellent damping property.

SOLUTION: This vibration damping device 1 comprises a vertical hollow body 10 in which a suspended member 1 is suspended. The vibration damping device is fitted to the vertical hollow body 10 in such a state that the axis of a suspended member 11 is aligned with the axis of the vertical hollow body 10 and the lower end part of the suspended member 11 is movable in the horizontal direction through a spring 22. In the vertically installed member with excellent damping property, a damping property is given to the vertically installed member itself or the vibration damping device is installed on the outside or inside of the vertically installed member to provide the damping property.
