PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochromic device which has extremely high color purity, which precisely controls colors, and which displays sharp and clear colors. SOLUTION: The electrochromic device which has a pair of electrode structural bodies 11, 12 comprising at least transparent electrodes 2, 7 formed on supporting substrates 1, 6, which is disposed so as to have the transparent electrodes 2, 7 facing each other with an electrolyte layer 5 interposed in between, and which has a porous electrode 4 with an organic EC coloring matter composed of a predetermined pyridine compound adsorbed thereon formed on at least one out of the pair of the transparent electrodes 2, 7, is provided.
